Test Dust General Description:

1) Up to 85% of hydraulic system wear problems can be traced to contamination by solid particles. Particle counting is a mainstay of contamination control in hydraulic, automotive, and aerospace applications. To improve precision and accuracy in particle counting, the fluid powder industry requested the development of a series of standard reference materials/ reference materials to replace and improve upon existing reference material that has been used for over 25 years. The nominal specific gravity is 2.65

2) With the release of SRM 2806 Medium Test Dust in Hydraulic Fluid, RM 8631 Medium Test Dust, and RM 8632 Ultrafine Test Dust, together with revisions to document standards from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the National Fluid Power Association (NFPA), improved accuracy and reproducibility of the particle count data can be realized.

3) To the best of our knowledge since we are an active distributor of all test dusts, ISO 12103-1 test dust is a non- contaminant and non-hazardous Class 60 material

    1) ISO 12103-1, A4 Coarse (coarse test dust)

    5) Medium Test Dust in Hydraulic Fluid (SRM 2806)

                A naturally occurring irregularly shaped mineral dust suspended in hydraulic oil at a nominal concentration of 2.8 mg/l. Certified and reference values for the cumulative number of dust particles per unit volume of hydraulic oil greater than the specified particle diameter are reported. Certified values for particles sizes from 1 micron to 30 microns are provided. Particle sizes greater than 30 microns are given as reference values.

    6) Medium Test Dust (RM 8631)

                Consists of 20 grams of dry dust taken from the same lot as the dust in SRM 2806, and is provided with reference values from 1 micron to 50 microns.

    7) Ultra Fine Test Dust (RM 8632)

                Provided in 20 gram units with reference values from 1 micron to 20 microns.

    8) ASHRAE Synthetic Test Dust

ASHRAE synthetic dust consists of the following:

72% Standardized fine test dust by weight (Arizona Road Dust), 23% Molocco Black by weight and 5% No. 7 Cotton Linters by weight, ground in a Wiley mill with a 4mm mesh screen.

    9) Military Specification: MIL STD 810 Test Dust
 

Test Dust Packaging:

1) Jars (4 liters net), pails, & drums (120 liters net and 220 liters net).

2) Packaging may vary according to HAZMAT and TSCA (SARA Title III) status.
