iron aluminide (Fe3Al), iron aluminide, aluminium, compound with iron; Ironaluminide(metals basis); Iron aluminide, 97.5% (metals basis); CAS# 12004-62-5; Iron aluminide, 99% (metals basis) alternative to stainless steel, high temp. sulfidizing oxidizing environments, resistance heating elements, automotive components, rotating parts, porous gas metal filters,
- Iron Aluminide Designations:
Chemical Formula: Fe3Al
a) A class of iron-based alloys that offer excellent high temperature oxidation and sulfidation resistance.
b) Iron aluminide is a low cost alternative to stainless steel. They resist corrosion by the formation of an adherent surface film of Al2O3. Iron aluminide is also more ductile then stainless steel. These properties, among others, make a better materials for some applications, despite its slightly higher cost.
High yield and ultimate tensile strength, lower density than stainless steel, excellent oxidation resistance up to 1,200 deg.C, Excellent sulfidation resistance at high temperatures, Excellent resistance to highly oxidizing molten salts.
Al= 15.9%, Cr= 2.20, Fe= bal., Zr= 0.0, B= 0.01, Nb= 0.0, % C= 0.0
A large number of size ranges are available for consolidation, P/M, thermal spray, injection molding, and other specialty applications
Its major use is as an alternative to stainless steel. Also high temp. sulfidizing & oxidizing environments, resistance heating elements, automotive components, rotating parts, porous gas metal filters, etc.
