  • Amorphous Metals Definition:

a) Structural amorphous metals (SAM) are primarily defined as bulk, structural (which must, by nature of their application, bear mechanical loads or resist superimposed mechanical stresses in service) metallic materials whose microstructures, unlike that of conventional metals, are non-crystalline, amorphous, or "glassy" in the solid state.

b) Also included in the primary definition of SAM are metallic materials whose crystalline microstructures are formed from an amorphous or glassy condition or are synthesized/ derived from an amorphous metal and exhibit combinations of crystalline and amorphous micro- architectured features.

c) Amorphous Metals, also known as metallic glass alloys, differ from traditional metals in that they have a non-crystalline structure and possess unique physical and magnetic properties that combine strength and hardness with flexibility and toughness
