Granite powder, granite aggregate, granite chips, granite sand, geologic granite, commercial granite,
1) It is defined in common commercial practice to include almost any hard (harder than glass or steel), crystalline stone that accepts a high polish that is not marble, limestone, travertine, sandstone or other softer, common stone. See ASTM Specification C-119 for another definition of granite. It usually contains small quantities of mica or hornblende, and minor accessory minerals may be present. Depending on the feldspar present, granite may be pink, dark gray, or light gray.
2) Granite is a common and widely occurring type of intrusive, felsic, igneous rock. Granites usually have a medium to coarse grained texture.
3) Angular particles, light salt and pepper colored, ranging in size from pebbles to boulders.
1) General Content:
a) Feldspars (65 to 90%)
b) Quartz (10 to 60%)
c) Biotite or other accessory minerals (10 to 15%)
2) Nominal Chemical Composition:
70-77% silica, 11-13% alumina, 3-5% potassium oxide, 3-5% soda, 1% lime, 2-3% total iron, and less than 1% magnesia and titania
3) Average Chemical Composition-
A worldwide average of the chemical composition of granite, by weight percent:
SiO2 — 72.04%
Al2O3 — 14.42%
K2O — 4.12%
Na2O — 3.69%
CaO — 1.82%
FeO — 1.68%
Fe2O3 — 1.22%
MgO — 0.71%
TiO2 — 0.30%

Granite Health Hazards:
Important Note: Granite is heavily contaminated with crystalline silica (CAS Number: 14808-60-7). Therefore, silicosis is a major health hazard in granite mining and in the end use / processing of granite.
