Corundum Powder Designations:
Chemical Name: Corundum
Chemical Formula: Aluminium oxide, Al2O3
Category: Oxide mineral- Hematite group
-
Corundum Powder Description:
a) Alumina after fusion, in its high temperature phase, is also called corundum or fused alumina. In nature, corundum is the hardest mineral after diamond. Produced by the controlled fusion and crystallization of high quality alumina
b) Corundum powder is a primary abrasive product for polishing of skin, as the product is extremely hard in nature & also its inertness gives better values for Micro-Derm Abrasions. The product is an ideally gamma ray sterilized and it is abundantly used in skin cleaning operations.
c) It is a granular, white, odorless powder. Aluminum oxide is the highest oxidation state of aluminum and its essentially chemically inertness complies to the micro derm abrasions.
d) In addition to its hardness, corundum is unusual for its high density of 4.02 g/cm³, which is very high for a transparent mineral composed of the low atomic mass elements aluminium and oxygen.
