- Gallium Nitrate Synonyms:
gallium(III) nitrate, gallium trinitrate, gallium nitrate heptahydrate, gallium nitrate, 67Ga-labeled, NSC 15200, nitric acid, gallium salt, Ga(NO3)3·XH2O, gallium nitrate (Ga(N03)3), gallium nitrate, CAS# 13494-90-1
1) Gallium nitrate originally was developed by the National Cancer Institute as a chemotherapy agent but was found to markedly reduce calcium loss from bone. The exact mechanism of action is unknown, but gallium nitrate is thought to inhibit osteoclast activity and inhibit resorption by reducing bone turnover. Gallium nitrate is indicated for the treatment of clearly symptomatic cancer-related hypercalcemia that has not responded to adequate hydration. Source: Oncology Nursing Society
2) Gallium nitrate (brand name Ganite) is a drug used to treat symptomatic hypercalcemia secondary to cancer. It works by preventing the breakdown of bone through the inhibition of osteoclast activity, thus lowering the amount of free calcium in the blood.

- Gallium Nitrate Typical Applications:
Sometimes used as an antihypercalcemic agent. Recent studies suggest that it can cure navicular disease in horses. There are, however, other applications.
Jars, pails, drums, multiply paper bags, bulk bags and fiberboard containers. For further information on packaging options contact READE. Packaging may vary according to HAZMAT and TSCA (SARA Title III) status.
Gallium nitrate is listed.
