- Specular Hematite / Barshot (Fe203) Description:
Specular hematite is a chemically inert ferric oxide mineral which cannot rust as the particles are in a fully oxidized form. The BARSHOT grade offered contains less than 0.3% free silica
- Specular Hematite / Barshot (Fe203) Typical Chemical Properties Available:
Ferric oxide (Fe203)= 96 to 98%, silicon dioxide (Si02)= <1.2%, aluminum oxide
(Al203)= <1.0%, and titanium dioxide (Ti02)= 0.10%
- Three standard industry grades are available:
a) Coarse- 12 x 40 mesh (Grade Name: BARSHOT 20). Suited for more aggressive blasting of heavy corrosion & coatings removal and giving a 4.0 - 5.0 mil profile.
b) Medium- 16 x 60 mesh (Grade Name: BARSHOT 30). A fast cleaning & low dusting abrasive and giving a 2.5 - 3.0 mil profile.
c) Fine- 30 x 60 mesh (Grade Name: BARSHOT 50). A heavy, hard abrasive offering an exceptionally fast cleaning rate with reduced abrasive consumption and giving a 1.5 - 2.5 mil profile.
