  • Pumice Powder Synonyms:

pumice powder, pumice stone, felsic, pumice stone powder, amorphous aluminum silicate, CAS# 1332-09-8, pumice granular stone, agricultural pumice,

  • Pumice Powder Designations:

a) Chemical Name: Amorphous aluminum silicate

b) Chemical Formula: Varies, but usually felsic

  • Pumice Powder Description:

a) Pumice is a extrusive igneous rock that is a light yellowish gray. It is very light and can float on water.

b) Pumice is a very light colored, frothy volcanic rock that is formed from lava that is full of gas. During an eruption the lava is ejected and shot through the air . As the lava hurtles through the air it cools and the gases escape leaving the rock full of holes. This makes the rock very light, so light it can float on water

  • Pumice Powder Typical Chemical Properties:

Silicon dioxide= 70.5%

Aluminum oxide= 13.5%

  • Pumice Powder Physical Properties Available:

a) Approximately 16 different granulations available from a very coarse granule (4.75 mm and finer) to a very fine powder (45 microns and finer)

b) Two new low micron grades were recently added:

i) “Micro-Fine 5” which has a d90 of 5µm and

ii) ”Micro-Fine 10” which has a d90 of 10µm.

c) These two low micron grades were developed for applications in the following industries: micro-abrasive, anti-blocking, protein absorbent, refining agent, moisture scavengers, catalyst carrier, tableting aids, cosmetics, diazo paper, printing ink, PVC compounds, micro-fine filler, pigment, micro-fine pozzolan, etc.
